Weddings Special

August 24th, 2011

This year our local group of churches will host even more church weddings and church wedding blessings than ever. This bucks the national trend, as most seek out hotels, castles and even boats. But why are we locally so joyfully busy? It is because we warmly welcome all enquiries, and want to make a wedding personal and memorable for the couple. Churches are special places and there are some things about a church wedding that you just cannot get anywhere else.

  • A church wedding adds a spiritual dimension to a marriage. The ceremony includes God and looks to Him for help and guidance. God's blessing is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs. In church it is marriage in the eyes of God, which makes the commitment so much stronger.
  • You can make amazing vows or promises in a church. Couples can only make vows this big in a church. These vows, made in public, help a couple to stay together and grow together. God is in at the start of a couple's life together and our church are there for them to support them in married life together.
  • The Vicar and those who support our local weddings all make the experience special. We blend ancient tradition and modern experience to reflect couples' stories and lives. Because of the relationship with all of us involved in making a visiting couple welcome in our church, the wedding is personal, memorable, meaningful and beautiful.
  • Our church buildings offer places of outstanding beauty and a stunning wedding venue
  • Our church buildings offer centuries of history. Imagine all the couples who have married in our local church (including many of ourselves and our family members). You can feel that you're becoming part of history itself, the bigger plan, by marrying in the same place as your relatives.
  • Our wedding couples are involved in making choices about the ceremony, and each wedding is uniquely different.
  • Our church simply feels like the proper place to get married. Our churches can be described as 'peaceful', 'serene', and have an atmosphere that makes marrying there a particularly special experience.
