Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

If you would like to arrange to hold a special service in St Peter's Church (e.g. a baptism, wedding or funeral), the first step is to discuss this with Rev Michael Matthews, by telephone (01223 870285) or email (priest@bartonstpeters.org.uk).

Anyone who lives in Barton is entitled to be buried in the churchyard and to have an Anglican funeral in the church if they wish. We also welcome enquiries from villagers of other denominations and will do everything we can to assist. If you have a long association with Barton but no longer live here it is still worth contacting us and we will see if we can help.

Those who live in the village or whose families have a strong connection will probably fulfill the legal requirements about who can marry in the parish church. If you or your family have no particular connection you can marry in the church if you are on the electoral roll, and to qualify for this you need to attend church here regularly for six months.

All who live in the village are welcome to bring their children to be baptised into the Church of England in the parish church.

Fees for weddings and funerals are set annually by the Church of England, and the fees table for 2011 can be downloaded here.
